The process used to form glass containers

How are glass bottles made?
Manufacturers form glass containers using a specific process. To begin with, they heat the ingredients for the glass until they melt. Next a gob of the melted glass forms into a parison in a dedicated mould. They then move the parison to a blow or finishing mould. It is here where the bottle gets its final shape.
It is possible to produce these containers in large batches. This normally occurs in an IS glass forming apparatus. It has several sets of moulds fed by a sole source of molten glass. You run the sections in synchronism in a relative phase relationship. This allows the sections to obtain gobs of molten glass in an organised cycle from the single source.
One of the sections acquires a gob from the feeding means. As this happens, another section supplies a completed article to an output conveyor. Meanwhile, different sections are going through several forming steps. This happens between the receiving of the gob and the creation of the final article. A timer will control the sequence of operation. It could be either electronic or mechanical.
